The Australasian Dark Sky Alliance is delighted to be a supporter of the inaugural – Responsible Outdoor Lighting at Night Conference (ROLAN 2022). Taking place online this two-day conference (May 12-13, 2022) will lead live panel discussions on best-practice outdoor lighting.

Thirty-one renowned speakers from countries including Australia Kellie Pendoley, Belgium, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Finland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and the United States of America, from a variety of fields (lighting design, environmental science, biology, astronomy, medical science, and legal aspects) will present talks in 4 key areas:

1. Losing our dark nights
2. Best lighting practice(s) to reduce light pollution
3. Light pollution legal aspects
4. The impact of light exposure at night on the environment and humans.
